Harry Kane has moved clear at the top of England's all-time men's goalscoring charts after netting his 54th goal for the Three Lions in Thursday's meeting with Italy.

Kane had been tied with former Manchester United and Everton striker Wayne Rooney on 53 but claimed the record for his own as he thundered home a penalty shortly before half-time in the Europea qualifier.

The Tottenham talisman needed just 81 appearances for his country to break the record, besting the electric pace set by fellow goalscoring greats like Rooney, Gary Lineker and Sir Bobby Charlton.
