Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Jalen Carter was once viewed as the consensus pick to go first overall in this year’s draft, but it’s now anybody’s guess when he’ll be taken.

On Jan. 15, Carter was involved in a car accident that killed teammate Devin Willock and Georgia staff member Chandler LeCroy. An arrest warrant was issued for him on Mar. 1, and Carter turned himself in.

The 22-year-old Carter pled no contest to a pair of misdemeanor charges and was sentenced to 12 months probation, fined $1,000 and ordered to perform 80 hours of community service.

One team to keep an eye on in the Carter sweepstakes? The Detroit Lions, who hold the No. 6 selection courtesy of the Los Angeles Rams thanks to the 2021 Matthew Stafford blockbuster trade.
