Kansas State football coach Chris Klieman agreed to a new eight-year deal that will keep him with the program through 2030, athletic director Gene Taylor announced Monday. Here’s what you need to know:

Klieman led the Wildcats to a Big 12 Championship last season and finished the year ranked ninth in the College Football Playoff Top 25, the program’s second-highest ranking in the CFP era.

The 55-year-old has compiled a 30-20 record at Kansas State in four seasons, and the Wildcats are coming off a 10-4 season that ended with a Sugar Bowl loss. The 10 wins are the program’s most since 2012.

Klieman will be paid an average base salary of $5.5 million throughout the contract.
