Michigan and Texas agreed to swap locations for their upcoming home-and-home series that will be played in 2024 and 2027, the schools announced Tuesday. Here’s what you need to know:

Under the swap agreement, the Wolverines will host the Longhorns at Michigan Stadium on Sept. 7, 2024. Michigan will make the return visit to Texas’ Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium on Sept. 11, 2027.

The original contract for the home-and-home series was reached in 2014.

Why swap locations?

Negotiations surrounding Texas and Oklahoma’s early exit from the SEC were complicated, both because of the money and multiple media partners involved. Flipping the locations of these games changes what would have been a Big 12 game in 2024 to what will now be a Big Ten game.
