Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel says the sacking of Graham Potter at Chelsea “didn’t bring out huge emotions” and suggested the club have made big changes since his time in west London.

Potter was sacked by Chelsea on Sunday, seven months after he succeeded Tuchel as head coach at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking about Potter’s dismissal, Tuchel said: “I found out late last night via a message on my phone. The timing is quite stunning because it coincides with me starting the job here. Now there’s another coaching vacancy. That’s all.

“It took me some time to distance myself (after getting fired by Chelsea) because I really loved working there and struck up friendships for life with staff there.

“It was an intense time. But the club has changed massively. That helped me to find some distance. That’s why (this news) didn’t bring out huge emotions in me.”
