Former Washington quarterback Sam Huard will continue his career at Cal Poly, he announced Monday on Seattle radio station 710 AM. Huard, a five-star prospect in the 2021 class whose father and uncle both played quarterback for the Huskies, entered the transfer portal earlier this month after spending the 2022 season third on the depth chart behind starter Michael Penix Jr. and backup Dylan Morris. Here’s what you need to know:

New Cal Poly coach Paul Wulff recently hired Sheldon Cross, Huard’s coach at Burien (Wash.) Kennedy Catholic, as offensive coordinator.

Huard stated upon entering the portal that his priority was finding a school where he could play in 2023, with Penix returning to Washington for his final year of eligibility.
